This Privacy Policy describes how The Catholic Zone LLC collects, uses, shares, retains, and protects information.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how The Catholic Zone LLC collects, uses, shares, retains, and protects information through The Catholic Zone web app, iOS app, Android app, and related services.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide, including:

  • Account details, name, email, handle, birth date, and recovery settings
  • Profile details, profile images, host profiles, and team profiles
  • Event listings, event locations, event cover images, and event drafts
  • Comments, RSVPs, ratings, follows, reports, feedback, and support messages
  • Parish suggestions, trust/verification requests, official relation requests, and Get Involved inquiries
  • Billing-related account status and subscription records
3. Parish and Faith-Related Information

The app asks users to select a home parish or local parish anchor so local discovery, parish-related features, and weekly digest features can work.

If you are not Catholic, unsure, or do not have a regular parish, you may choose a nearby Catholic parish for locality purposes.

Home parish is private account data unless you explicitly expose it later. Parish selection, Catholic event participation, parish suggestions, and related activity may imply religious or community affiliation, so we treat this information carefully and use it for app functionality, safety, support, and user-requested workflows.

4. Location Information

We may process location information from event addresses, host/team profile locations, selected home parish coordinates, preferred search locations, and device/browser location when you choose to enable it.

Device location is used for nearby discovery and similar location-based features.

For private-location events, public views may show coarse location information while exact location is restricted according to platform rules.

5. Public and Shared Content

Some content may be visible to other users or the public, including public profiles, team profiles, event listings, event images, handles, comments, ratings summaries, and shared event/profile previews.

Your settings and feature context affect what is visible.

6. Communications and Notifications

We may send in-app inbox notifications, email notifications, push notifications, transactional messages, account/security messages, billing messages, moderation/trust updates, parish suggestion updates, Get Involved-related messages, and weekly local digests.

You can manage many notification preferences in-app. Some critical operational, legal, billing, or security messages may still be sent.

7. Billing and Purchases

We process billing-related information needed to manage plans, entitlements, invoices, subscription status, cancellations, renewals, payment risk, and support.

Full payment card details are handled by payment or app-store billing providers rather than stored directly by The Catholic Zone.

8. Trust, Safety, and Moderation

We collect and retain information needed to operate moderation, reporting, verification, official profile relations, abuse prevention, rate limits, account security, and audit workflows.

This may include reports, review notes, verification evidence, official-source evidence, admin actions, trust case history, moderation decisions, device/request metadata, and related communications.

9. Technical, Security, and Usage Data

We collect technical information needed to operate and secure the service, including session data, authentication events, device/platform context, browser/app version, IP address, request metadata, error reports, performance telemetry, push subscription/device-token data, and abuse-prevention logs.

10. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Authenticate users and provide app features
  • Complete profile and home parish setup
  • Show nearby and home-parish-related events
  • Operate profiles, teams, RSVPs, comments, ratings, and follows
  • Send notifications and digests
  • Handle billing, account deletion, account export, and support requests
  • Review reports, trust requests, verification requests, and official relation requests
  • Prevent abuse, improve reliability, and comply with legal obligations
11. How We Share Information

We share information when needed with service providers that support hosting, database, storage, authentication, payments, app-store billing, entitlement management, email, push notifications, geocoding/maps, moderation/safety, anti-abuse, diagnostics, support, and similar operations.

We may share information with profile/team managers when you submit an inquiry, RSVP, team action, report-related interaction, or other feature that requires manager follow-up.

We may disclose information when required by law, to enforce policies, to protect users or rights, or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or asset transfer.

12. No Sale or Cross-Context Behavioral Advertising

We do not sell personal information to data brokers.

We do not provide personal information for third-party cross-context behavioral advertising.

13. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication, session continuity, security, preferences, app functionality, and diagnostics.

14. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as needed for app functionality, safety, support, billing, audit, legal compliance, and operational integrity.

Some records may be deleted, de-identified, disassociated, or retained longer when needed for fraud prevention, moderation, trust/safety, accounting, legal, or security purposes.

15. Account Deletion and Data Export

You may request account deletion in-app or through the account deletion page at /account-deletion.

Deletion uses a recovery window before permanent purge. Some records may be retained or de-identified for safety, billing, legal, audit, or operational reasons.

Where available, you may also export account data from account settings.

16. Your Choices

You can update profile information, notification preferences, home parish, location preferences, privacy-related event settings, and certain account settings in-app.

You can disable device location through your browser or operating system.

You can unsubscribe from non-required emails where available.

17. Age Restriction

The service is intended only for adults age 18 and older. We collect birth date information to enforce this requirement.

18. Security

We use technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No transmission or storage system is completely secure.

19. International Processing

Information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate, subject to applicable safeguards.

20. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material updates may be reflected by an updated effective date and may require in-app review or acceptance.
